Welcome to the Midwest Fiber Company. I hope you find this site to be a good source of information when you begin thinking about llama and alpaca fiber. My mission is to promote the joy of working with llama and alpaca to fiber enthusiasts everywhere!

Fiber artist Lee Ann King is the creative force behind Midwest Fiber Company. MWFC is not a mill or a production business. Everything I work with starts as a raw fleece and becomes a wonderful product. I believe in supporting the US camelid farmer and US processing mills. Check out the list of fiber farms and processing mills that I have been involved with. My own small herd of 12 llamas doesn’t produce enough fiber for all the yarn I want to design so I had to head to the fields! I’ve purchased fabulous fleeces from these friends and what fun to see the animal that has provided the fleece that will become yarn.

The yarns are my favorite. Once I determine what type of yarn the llama and alpaca fleeces are best suited for, they are skirted and sent to the mill. Our fiber processing mills have a multitude of spinning techniques like multi colored yarn, lopi style, lace weight, bouclè and more. I hand paint and dye much of the yarn after it’s been spun at the mill. Dyeing is another design element that allows me to create. I so enjoy being able to offer you such luscious yarn and roving to work with.

I will be vending at a number of fiber festivals and shows this year. A special thank you to Lisa, Nina, Dianne, Cindy, Amy, Wendy and the Michigan Wooly Women for their lovely creations that help fill my vendor booth. Please stop by to visit.
